This educational initiative is directed by the Society of Neurosurgeons of South Africa appointed Education Committee to ensure discussion of relevant and important topics and challenges in neurosurgery.

SNSA Education Committee

The members of the SNSA Education Committee are:

Dr Rohen Harrichandparsad
Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, Durban, South Africa
Dr Harrichandparsad is a specialist neurosurgeon at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital (IALCH) in Durban, South Africa. He has a special interest in vascular and endovascular neurosurgery, cervical myelopathy, and neurotrauma. He established the Neurointervention service at IALCH under the mentorship of Dr Duncan Royston. He published several research papers in neurosurgery and received the MEC’s Annual Service Excellence Awards (MASEA) for 2013/2014. Dr Harrichandparsad has a passion for education and has been a speaker at both local and international congresses. He is the Chair of the SNSA Education Committee.
Dr Nico Enslin
Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa
Prof Nico Enslin qualified as a physiotherapist and then studied medicine. This joint interest in neurology has led him to pursue a career in Neurosurgery. Prof Enslin specialized at the University of Cape Town where he completed his neurosurgical training, after which he did short fellowships in functional neurosurgery at various European neurosurgical units. He completed a fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, where he works as a consultant neurosurgeon. His special interests are functional neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery, spasticity surgery and movement disorder surgery.
Prof Llewellyn Padayachy
Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Pretoria, South Africa
Prof Padayachy is the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Pretoria and Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. He is a paediatric neurosurgeon with special clinical research interests in minimally invasive surgical techniques and non-invasive diagnostic methods. As a result of his research, he formed a practical and beneficial collaboration with one of the world’s leading institutes to detect increased intracranial pressure in children by using a safe easier, more accessible method. Prof Padayachy published several research papers on a variety of topics in neurosurgery and is a well-respected speaker at both national and international neurosurgery congresses. He has received numerous awards and serves on the executive boards of many International and Continental Neurosurgical Societies.
